Q: Acrive Directory and OX server home folders & the DOCK
We currently use a MAC OSX server with WORKGROUP MANAGER and this summer are purchasing a NEW server with 10.10 and the latest OSX server. I know there is no longer WORKGROUP MANAGER, but rather PROFILE MANAGER. With that in Mind, I have a couple of questions...
We will be connecting the NEW mac server to our WINDOWS 2012 Acive Directory environment to give them ONE login to worry about (same login on windows as MAC). How do I set the new server up so that when a user logs in, they will get the HOME FOLDER they have on windows AND a home folder on the MAC server? Right now, using a test machine (with WG Manager not profile manager as the new server has not arrrived), I get the WINDOWS home folder but no MAC HOME FOLDER. HOW?
Also, once I configure the OSX server to connect to Active Directory, how do I manager a users DOCK, and what they can and cannot open on the mac workstations? I dont have the new server yet so I cannot play with profile manager....
