Q: Cannot Install El Cap Failure

Hi all,

Frustrating situation here.

Trying to upgrade to El Cap but after the install restart, it eventually loads up the Installer page with a message that reads This Install Could Not Be Completed.

I cannot get answers and am looking for any help I can get to finally have El Cap installed and working.

What is going wrong??

Details Details Details

MacBookPro3,1

MacBook Pro from Sept 2007.

2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo

6GB SD Ram

I had about 42 GB of space on the hard drive but since it's been erased in this process I now have over 300 GB.

By all accounts, it is able to run the upgrade to El Cap.

Currently I am running Snow Leopard.

Yes, I'm jumping from 10.6.8 to 10.11.5 (long story as to why I've not upgraded before, but not relevant).

I cloned 10.6.8 on one external drive.

I ran a backup on a second external drive.

App Store app crashes every time I try and download El Cap if I click on the Updates tab.
When i find it in the Featured tab, it does the El Cap download properly (takes a long time).

After many failed attempts, Apple Senior Advisors had me wipe my hard drive and start over.

I used Disc Check and it said my hard drive was alright.

I used Disc Check to Erase my internal hard drive

I did a clean install of Snow Leopard from my original discs.

I ran all the updates to bring Snow Leopard fully up to 10.6.8 and everything else that came along with it.

The last Apple Senior Advisor I spoke with was more dismissive of my issues than helpful and pretty much just wanted to sell me a new computer.

I run the El Cap upgrade.

In the OS, it says about 5 minutes.

After about 5 minutes it restarts.

Upon restart, it goes to the light gray screen with the dark gray apple logo and a thin progress bar.

Progress bar says it'll be about 30 minutes.

Progress bar moves very slowly.

Eventually boots up to what looks like the OS but only has OS Installer.

Displays the dialogue box that reads "This Install Cannot Be Completed" (or something to that affect).

Has big, long Error Log (which I have saved but no idea how to read).

Stuck there, frustrated, don't know what to do, don't know how to read an error log.

Please help!
