Need to complain about not so genius service at the genius bar!

I dropped my phone & cracked the screen so I made an appointment at my local genius bar to get it fixed. There is only 1 store in town so I had to wait a week to get an appointment. Once there they told me it would be 1.5hrs to get my phone fixed. When I went back they said when they went in to fix the phone it stopped working, so all my data was lost. They replaced my phone with a "new" one. So after 2.5hrs of time at the store I took the phone home spent another 2+ hrs putting my data & apps back on the phone & getting back into my emails etc, etc. What with driving to the other end of town & time at the store etc, I ended up spending most of my Saturday dealing with this issue.

Today I used the phone as normal after powering it up all night & it lost complete power within 5hrs of normal use! So it is either a lemon of a new phone, or not actually the "new" phone they said I was getting.

I called customer service & all they can do is have me go back to the genius bar & try to get a better phone this time. Again, no appointments available till the weekend so I'm going to have to spend another Saturday fiddling with the phone!

Customer service advised me to ask the genius bar to check the battery on the new phone this time. Why isn't that a standard practice?

As you can see from the Terms of Use of the Apple Support Communities (below), this is not a scenario any of us (Apple users) can help with.

Regarding your battery condition, you can schedule an appointment, but I recommend calling AppleCare. They have tech support that can walk you through running a diagnostic test of your iPhone to check it's battery condition. Replacement iPhones have never been used by another user prior to your use. The batteries are new, but that doesn't mean that maybe the battery was failing. Lithium Ion is the industry standard, and it's known to happen from time to time, but you're warrantied for that in this case. Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

It is also possible that you may have made certain adjustments to the settings of your previous iPhone that since you didn't have a recent backup like you had hoped, those settings were lost. This article covers the settings that can assist the most in extending your battery life.

The last thing I might consider to check is maybe for the option to enable WiFi Calling. If you had this enabled on your old iPhone, and you are in low signal service areas, this can be a major drain on your battery to maintain the little signal it has to keep you connected. WiFi Calling gives some relief to your phone when available.
