Q: Notes not synchronised between iCloud & MS Outlook

Hi, I am using Microsoft Outlook 365 (2016 edition) x32, on  Windows 10 x64. I am using Notes and synchronize them between my iPhone 5 and iCloud without any problems. I installed lates iCloud for Windows and have no problems with sending & receiving e-mails, and synchronizing Tasks between iCloud and MS Outlook. I do not use iTunes for synchronizing my tasks and mails.

The problem. Fiolder "Notes" within Outlook (in iCloud folder) is completely empty, but it should contain my Notes there. I tried to reinstall iCloud for Windows with no success. I need to solve, for working with Notes from Outlook. As a minimum, I would like to read Notes offline - now I have to open browswer and go to iClouds.

How to solve this problem?

iPhone 5, Windows 10

    Hi gedonis,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I know that notes can be extremely useful, especially when it syncs across everything. I'll be happy to provide you with some resources to help get this working again with Outlook.

With your iPhone, it seems very likely that you've already upgraded your notes to the new version. If that's the case, note what is mentioned here:

iCloud: View iCloud notes in Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer

"...if you upgrade iCloud Notes on a device with iOS 9 or OS X v10.11, notes in Outlook aren’t kept up to date with notes on iCloud.com or your devices with iOS 9 or OS X v10.11."

If you have not yet upgraded your notes, check out the additional troubleshooting we've provided here:

Get help using Outlook with iCloud for Windows

Make sure that the iCloud Outlook Add-in is on

    1. Select the File menu.
    2. Click Options in the left panel.
    3. Click Add-ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
    4. Look at the list of add-ins in the Active Application Add-ins section.
    5. Select the iCloud Outlook Add-in.

Have a great rest of your day! Cheers.

I already upgraded my notes to the new version, but the citation "...if you upgrade iCloud Notes on a device with iOS 9 or OS X v10.11, notes in Outlook aren’t kept up to date with notes on iCloud.com or your devices with iOS 9 or OS X v10.11." is NOT applicable.

Because I do not need to export Notes from Outlook to iCloud, I need to import them only (from iCloud to Outlook). Now I can't, Notes section in Outlook is empty.

I'm sorry if there is any confusion with the phrasing in that statement.

That statement means that if your notes have been upgraded, then they are not able to sync with Outlook. This means both to and from Outlook.

I hope this helps clear things up. Cheers!

This is a reply to the first reply:

So, is it disabled or an incompatibility issue.  In other words, will it be fixed or do we need to find another solution for notes.  FYI, I've been using Evernote to this point, but they are about to start charging for more than 2 devices.  So, I'm looking for another option.  Thanks
