Q: iPhone 5s stuck on updating 9.2.1

I wasn't able to try and update my 5s to 9.2.1 until recently, because I couldn't connect to my laptop to dump any old pictures and things to free up space for the update. Anytime I tried doing it on my phone by itself, it said there was an error installing it, but didn't tell me what it was. So, I figured I'd hop on my macbook and do it through iTunes. Once everything downloaded, I proceeded with trying to update, but now, my phone is stuck on the white apple screen with no progress on the progress bar, and iTunes is just saying 'Waiting for iPhone...'. What do I do to fix this? I'm worried that it pulled the entire operating system off and will leave me with a brick of a phone(this happened to my iPad mini), so I'm not gonna try and chance anything by turning it off or unplugging it from my macbook. I can't even do a force restart with the lock home button, because my home button doesn't work. Any suggestions?
