What is the codec of the footage you are working with? H.264? MP4? Something other than an FCP editing codec? because the biggest issues that hit when editing H.264 or other non-editing codec with FCP 7 or earlier, is loss of sync when editing, or exporting.

Make a copy of your sequence.

Working on the copy, in the Sequence Settings set the sequence to ProRes 422.

Export your sequence without conversion and self contained.

Take that file into Compressor to create the deliverables you want.
