Alpine ILX-007 not recognizing Iphone 6

I recently purchased an Alpine ILX-007 headunit for my Jeep Wrangler. This unit only has a handful of options, the main one being Apple Carplay. I have tried everything with troubleshooting but the headunit does not recognize my iPhone 6. I think it may have to do with the IOS 9.3.2 software I am running. The Carplay icon just remains ghosted out on the headunit and I am unable to click or do anything with Siri or Carplay. I pretty much have an $800 unit that only plays radio!

Frustrated, has anyone found a solution to this ? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am hardwiring with a certified Apple cable to the headunit. This particular headunit does not even offer wireless wifi / Bluetooth connectivity. I have already tried all the steps listed above in the article. I do have a service request placed with Apple support and Alpine support on this issue as well. Just hoping maybe someone here has encountered this issue and might have a solution I have not tried yet.

That is promising. I have an appointment tomorrow to speak with an Apple support person at their "Genius bar". If that does not spawn a solution, then I will go back to my installer and see about swapping the cable input location to fix the problem. Thanks for the suggestion. I use Verizon as my service provider, not sure if that plays a role in this issue at all. Curious what provider you are using ? Just trying to take out any variables in the trouble shooting.
