Q: Transcend jetdrive

what should I know before moving my Music Library to a jetdrive? How do I back up the music library to Time Machine after it has been moved to jetdrive?

If you're moving your iTunes library to an external drive, here you can find all the steps recommended to do it -> Manage and back up your iTunes media library - Apple Support Follow all of them except the last one. Then, if you want to use that library as the one by default, you have to link your copy in the external drive to iTunes: you can do so by holding down the Alt key while opening iTunes, and looking for the library on your external drive.

 

There are a few things you should know if you want to back up that library. First of all, make sure that your external drive is formatted in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" (also known as HFS+). Finally, you will only have to remove your external drive from the Excluded Items list in System Preferences -> Time Machine -> Options.
