Q: apple tv airplay sound cutout

Wen I'm using AirPlay to pus music to my ATV4 I'm getting an audio cutout every minute or so.

No problems using my old AirPort nor when I'm listening to music on my Macbook Air 2011, nor when i'm listening to music from the ATV music app

Apple TV, iOS 9.3.2

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.

You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.

There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Is your ATV on WiFi? If so, it may help if you change your router WiFi settings to use only WPA2-AES (CCMP), not dual-mode with TKIP.

What device are you AirPlaying from, how is it connected to the network, and is the music from internet or local files?

    Hello Winston,

Just a suggestion on WiFi scanning tools. Since computers are not particularly handy for walking around checking signal strength, I'd like to offer a couple of useful mobile tools. First, the Apple AirPort Utility for iOS includes a WiFi analyzer. You must enable it in Settings or it doesn't appear. You can use this even if you don't have an AirPort. Second, the Netgear WiFi Analytics tool is a non-obnoxious tool for Android devices. Unfortunately, neither detects networks with unpublished SSIDs, and of course, they don't show other interferers like baby monitors, wireless security cameras, etc.

Yes, some of my boilerplates probably need modernising.
