Q: iCloud Lock

I have an iPod touch 5g and the screen is cracked which prevents the user from swiping. The iPod is not connected the any Wifi. I am looking to sell the iPod and I performed a factory reset on this iPod. Unfortunately, I think my Apple ID is still associated with this iPod.

I want to make sure the iPod is not associated with my Apple ID. I want to make sure that I am not signed in to iCloud, App Store, iMessage or Facetime. Does a factory reset unlock the Apple ID from the device?

I want to make sure this iPod is completely unlocked and my Apple ID is not associated with it.

iPod touch, iOS 9.3.2

No a restore won't remove the activation lock, you can remove it from iCloud.com > Find my phone though.

That is what I thought. Once the iPod has joined a wireless connection, I should be able to remove my Apple ID from the iPod and therefore become unlocked.

I have looked at the article before titled Selling/Giving Away Device. However, some people who sell there iOS devices on Ebay don't understand what the term iCloud lock or Apple ID lock mean. Also, some people think that performing a "factory reset" deactivates or unlocks there Apple ID from the device. Apparently, a "factory reset" doesn't remove the Apple ID associated with the device.

Fortunately eBay has a returns policy, not all such sites do.
