Q: How can I close Podcasts when I am done listening?

I like Podcasts but I want it to close when I am done listening.  Instead I get a "play bar" at teh bottom of my screen and frequently the "cover art" will show up on my home screen.
I want to be able to close it

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10), 16 Gig, Win7 & Parallels 2 Airports

When you stop playback the app is closed. It's shown in the Control Center as the last audio app that was used in case you want to resume playback. That mode doesnt use up any computing or battery power.

If you insist, double-click on the Home button, scroll if you need to the Podcast app window, then slide it up on the screen.

Well, when I do the double click bit and slide that screen up and away, the application still does not close

As I said, the app closes the moment you stop playback.

Please explain in greater detail exactly what you're seeing, where and what you believe you should be seeing. Attaching screenshots would be of great help.

Press down the Power button, then the Home button. You'll see a "flash" and the screenshot will be saved to Photos. To attach it here, tap on the camera icon above the text input field.

Well, of course it isn't doing it at the moment.

But if you don't mind, when it happens again, I'll drop you a note.
    Thanks

If an iOS is misbehaving, performing a Reset often resolves the issue and is quick and easy to do.

Reset: hold down the Home and Power buttons until you see the Apple logo (10-20 seconds).
