Q: imessage and contacts (facetime also confusing)

I've been having reaal problems lately with imessage and facetim, when i try to send a message to a contact, i type the name, and it shows me two choices for the contact, and they're both the same except for one has the country code in the number (i dont have it with country code in my contact). And sometimes when i get a messaage i dont see the name of the contact displayed, only the number. This is happenning with a lot of contacts.

The biggest probem starts when im habing a conversation with a contact and have two messages windows, one with the country code, it appears to be random where the message goes when they text me. Really disturbing.

And like i said, when im going to send a message im not sure to what option send it to, since imessage shows me both options, (with and without country code, both optiones with the contact name and picture)

same thing with facetime!!!!!

arent these things suppose to just work apple???

    Greetings josue alexander,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I see that when you go to send a message to someone it shows their number with and without their country code even though you just have the one set in your contacts. Also it looks like your messages are in two threads, one with the country code and one without.

First it would be good to refresh your contacts and check to see if you have any other accounts syncing contacts like Facebook or another email account that could be adding the country code. This resource will help with refreshing your contacts:

Get help using iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders - Apple Support

    To refresh your contacts:

Open the Contacts app and tap Groups in the upper-left corner.

Swipe down on the list to refresh your groups.

When you’re on that groups page refreshing your contacts, this is also where you can see all the accounts that are syncing contacts to your phone. Make sure just the accounts you want to use are there.

    Take care!
