Q: open aperture backup with wrong version

Hello

I have a aperture 3 Backup and I want to open it, but I get the message:

"You have a newer version of aperture, please convert the backup to this version"

  • How can I find out what version the backup was made and convert it?

or

  • How can I downgrade my aperture version to the needed version?

Background is that I search for some photos that I cant find and I think they maybe in this old backup...

THANKS

BR

What kind of backup of Aperture is it?  Is it an Aperture 3 vault?

A vault is essentially an Aperture library.

A brute force way to open the vault in Aperture would be to unlock it and to change the filename extension from ".apvault" to ".aplibrary". Then you can open the vault in Aperture like any library by double clicking it.

To unlock the vault and to change the extension

    • select the vault in the Finder, use "File > get Info" from the Finder's file menu or ⌘I.
    • In the Info panel open the "general" section. Uncheck "locked".
    • In the "Name & Extension" section change ".apvault" to .aplibrary".

Now open the modified vault in Aperture.

    Hello Thanks for your answer

    But it didn't work :-/

I tried your solution but i cannot open the library,

    i get the message

    " a error occurs"

the media library could not be opened , the file system of the volume is not supportive...

Because i made the backup with a older version of aperture 3 ?

    THANKS for your help
