Q: Wifi Issues on 2,4 GHz network when bluetooth is turned on

Hello everyone,

since years I have a problem with my MacBook Pro (retina mid 2012). When I use wifi on a 2,4 GHz network I can’t use any bluetooth devices. Once I turn bluetooth on my wifi doesn’t work anymore.

As I am on the university campus I can’t switch to a 5GHz network because they just offer a 2,4 GHz wifi.

Of course I tried to my MacBook in other wifis - same problem.

Does anyone know how I can fix that?

I use the latest version of OSX El Capitan 10.11.15

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

    Greetings freakz2604,

Thanks for posting in the support communities. I see that you’re having issues with your Wi-Fi network whenever you are using bluetooth, and vice versa, on your MacBook Pro. I certainly understand the desire to use Wi-Fi and bluetooth at the same time.

The first thing you would want to rule out as being the culprit is Wi-Fi/bluetooth interference. It could be an issue with certain devices you own interfering with your Wi-Fi and bluetooth connection. Take a look at the following support article and try the steps at the very bottom listed under the section that says "Reduce effects of interference from other wireless devices":

Potential sources of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interference - Apple Support

If the steps in the support article don't resolve the issue, let us know what version of OS X you were on when this first started happening and what other troubleshooting steps you have tried already, if any, so that we may look into this a bit deeper with you.

    Take care!
