This is at a reduced cost from a new phone, and comes with a 90 day warranty. If you do not wish to do this, you do have the option to seek a competent, 3rd party repair facility and see if they can repair the device. Up to you, but the out of warranty replacement gets you a device that has been refurbished by Apple, and still qualifies for continued Apple service, whereas the device if fixed by a 3rd party will no longer qualify for any Apple support.
