FCX not liking Sony a7RII slow motion

Having an odd issue here. One of our shooters, shot some really great stuff on his Sony a7 and when we imported the footage everything looked okay until we brought it into the timeline and then it messed everything up. Video in events browser started acting funny (all of it) and the actual preview image from the clip eventually went away. I know I can take this into Compressor but it's a step that I feel I shouldn't have to take. Oddly enough, I did find a weird workaround. Once the clip was imported and transcoded (Prores 422) I selected it and moved it to the trash where I then went and watched the video - it looked fine and played perfectly. I then took the video from the trash and placed it in my timeline (which it makes a copy in your events folder) and it worked. Anyone else having this issue? I'm also having it with GoPro slow motion footage. Thanks - DL

Slow motion by itself shouldn't be the issue. You're just shooting at high frame rates and playing back at normal rate.

It's almost always the codec used to create the file in the camera. When we move GoPro slomo into FCPX, we use the GoPro software to handle the conversion. Might not be necessary or even wise but it gets the job done cleanly and securely. I have no experience with Sony's slow motion functions or the Sony codecs, sorry. The wonks will be along shortly to correct me and to adduces a better solution.
