The best advice is to max out the RAM to 6GB (2GB x 1) and (4GB x 1), buy the RAM from OWC (www.macsales.com) or directly from Crucial.

Also update OS X to the most up-to-date verison available which is El Capitan 10.11.x. In order to do that upgrade you will need to buy a Snow Leopard DVD from Apple ($19.99) and install that, then upgrade SL to 10.6.8 by using Apple's Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 . Once updated to 10.6.8 then open the Mac App Store and upgrade (for free) to El Capitan 10.11.x.

Before doing any of this it's wise to have a backup, your computer can use Time Machine to backup, so get an EHD to connect and begin backing up immediately.

Once you upgrade via Snow Leopard 10.6.3 retail DVD install disc and then update that

to the last version step 10.6.8, the computer could be able to access internet by use of

the Mozilla Firefox browser. Their current version will work with OS X 10.6.8 and later.

However this support from Firefox to run in Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is subject to change.

As suggested, the hardware upgrade to be able to run a later OS X is recommended

prior to the software upgrade. Also, clock battery on logic board may need replaced.

Good luck! 🙂

thank you rakufmann87 for the feed back and detailed advice , it was great , yet i need to ask you according to Apple &Crucial the i-mac model I'm talking about can be upgraded only to 4Gb of Ram ? can you advice about that .

and another question if i may can install the SL using the USB ,not with the DVD ?

thank you again

NO.

That is incorrect about the RAM.

Also, your iMac model 7,1 is a 2007 iMac. Not a 2008 model

2007 & 2008 iMacs max out their RAM at 6 GBs

OWC (aka OtherWorldComputing, aka macsales.com) have the 6 GB RAM kit that your iMac needs

OWC has international shipping to many countries, but you will have to contact them. either by email or phone to see if they ship to Riyadh or ship from another OWC location to Riyadh.

The reason for installing the maximum 6 GB of RAM is that 4 GBs of RAM will not be enough RAM to run versions of OS X newer than OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Newer versions of OS X that are newer than Snow Leopard require more than 4 GBs of RAM to run more normal or nominally.

As far as getting OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard onto your iMac, OS X Snow Leopard is ONLY available on OEM Apple DVD install discs.

You either call Apple direct to purchase these discs OR order directly from the Apple website.

There is NO USB or downloadable version of OS X Snow Leopard. There never was.

You must purchase the retail Snow Leopard install discs that are white with an image of a Snow Leopard on the box and on the discs.

Good Luck!
