Q: My iMac 27", late 2009 os El Capitan does´t recognize dvd

My iMac 27", late 2009 os El Capitan does´t recognize dvd:s although it plays a cd perfect. I don´t get any messages. The disk just ejects automatically. How can I deal with this problem?

Grateful for help!

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

The SuperDrive has 2 lasers in it, one for CD's the other for DVDs. It is possible the lenses need cleaning. Go to your local office supply store and ask for a CD and DVD cleaning kit and clean the lasers.

Hi and thank you for your advice!

Unfortunately it did´t help. I think it might has to do with upgrading to OS X El Capitan. I have´t played any CD:s or DVD:s after I did the upgrading, until now. So, can that be the problem?

    Thank you!
