Q: Apple Product Trade In/Replacement Programme Available?

HI all. Just wanted to ask the community if anyone knows if there is an Apple trade in programme for a newer device. I recently discovered that Apple won't be supporting my devices in the new iOS 10 that is due for release this autumn .

I Live in Ireland so if anyone knows of any programmes specfically for Apple products, the information I would appreciate.

One more question, can Apple change what products to support Before the release of the software or is it set in stone after the keynote presentation?

Thanks everyone. Looking forward to reading your responses. ☺️

KInd Regards,

Orla

Chandes are the models will not change. iPod 5 and lower, iPad 3 and lower will not get iOS 10.

As to the trade in, Apple will give you 10% either off your new one or of the cost of your old one. I'm not sure if it works in Ireland, but here in the states, Best Buy, Amazon, gazelle and other places will give you store credit for your old device that will be more than the 10% offered by Apple. I think I got $57 dollars for my iPod 5 32 gig last year.

What you get depends on the condition and model but could be something for you to look into. Unless your old device is non-functional you will probably get more either trading it into another retailer or selling it outright than what Apple will give you.

    Hi Skydiver119!

Thanks for your response. It is a shame that Apple can't continue to support the devices but that's the way it is I guess.

IN regard to your answer of the trade in, do you know how you get the 10% off the new device from Apple? And How do you get store credit on the likes of Amazon for instance for your device?

But like you said, selling it outright or selling it to a retailer might be the better option finacially speaking.

    Thanks again

Here's the info on their recycling program

    http://www.apple.com/recycling/

Just as an example, my 16 gig black iPad 2 would get me $55 in apple store credit

The same 5th gen iPod that got me $57 at best buy would get me nothing at Apple

One thing you will want to do before you sell it or trade it in is make sure your data is wiped

Thanks for the links! Will have a read on those, and decide the best way forward. Personally speaking, I would like to sell it on either to a eager buyer or to a retailer/reseller. ☺️

Thanks for for your feedback and help skydiver119!

You're welcome and good luck with whatever you do with it.

Be sure to back up your old iPad before you sell it. That way, when you set up your new one you can simply transfer the info across (presuming you want to do that) and you new iPad will be a near clone of the old one.
