Using Google Drive app

I wanted to upload some iPhone photos to the Google Photos section of my Google Drive. I opened up the Drive app and went into Google Photos. The screen says "Your Google Photos will appear here." I clicked on the blue plus sign and chose Upload, then Photos and Videos. Then I chose All Photos (which doesn't really show all my photos for some reason) and selected 15 of my iPhone photos, and tapped Upload. It uploaded them, but into the regular My Drive section of Google Drive rather than Google Photos. What gives here? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what Google Photos is.

Usage issues within the Drive app is probably more of a question for Google.

Rather than using the Drive app for this purpose, you can try sending photos from within the iOS Photos app to your Google Drive. In the Photos app, tap the "Select" button, select the photos you want to send to GD, then tap the "Send To" button (I don't know if that's what Apple calls it, but it is the rectangle with an up arrow protruding from it, down at the bottom-left). One of the Send To options is your GD, and you can navigate to which folder you want to send them to.

Right, thanks -- using the Share button within the Photos app is what I started out doing and what I'd prefer to do. But that option seems to have a limit of 10 photos which surprised me. If you select 10 photos and then tap on the Share button, then Google Drive appears in the top row of options. If you select 11 files, then when you tap the Share button, Google Drive no longer appears. No such limitation exists with the Drive app.

I'd originally planned to ask this question in one of the Google forums, but a few weeks ago no one there had been able to answer a similar question about the iPhone "Drive" app so I figured I'd try here. Several people tried, but they just don't have the app I need help with. They're good with apps that run on Android, but this is an iPhone app.
