Q: quick look restarts help?

Quick look reloads or restarts every few seconds, so if I open a PDF or play an MP3 quicklook will open and display it but then goes back to the beginning after a few seconds.

I've had this problem for a while and tried every fix I've found for deleting cache, plists and resetting the quick look via terminal but nothing has made any difference. I can't seem to find any other options, I'd appreciate it anyone else has any other idea's?

Mac Pro (Mid 2010), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Have you tried deleting com.apple.quicklook.ui.helper from the Containers folder in your personal library?

If you don't know how to find it, click on the Go item in the Finder's menubar and type: ~/Library/Containers [including the ~]. Drag com.apple.quicklook.ui.helper to the trash and reboot.

Thanks for the quick reply, yep I have tried that, in fact I just did it again as am desperate to fix it:) but no still the same problem. I tried reseting the finder.plist today that didn't help either. the search continues.

You did make me think if it was account based however, so to try a different account so I logged into the guest account but again the same problem remains so I presume that means it's a system thing.

Anything like Flip4Mac or Perian installed on that Mac? And what quicklook related errors show up in Console?

    Thanks again for the reply,

    Don't have Perian or Flip4mac.

Console always shows scary errors:) here is what I can see with a search for quick in console..I've omitted my username with xxx, I think the rest is safe to post.

Click on go > hold option key don't release it > then click on library > find folders caches , preferences .

In caches folder : find com.apple.LookDaemon right click on it & move to trash .

In preferences folder : find com.apple.QuickLookDaemon.plist right click on it & move to trash .

Finally restart from apple logo & empty the trash .

I use a lot of plugin components yes, not sure why quicklook find guitar rig but I doubt that affects anything, used the same version for years.

Just as a test, drag the component to a temporary folder on the desktop. Reboot, and test again. If it doesn't make a difference, you can put them back.

Just in case it doesn't solve the issue...

    1. Have you tried rebooting in Safe mode followed by a normal reboot?

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support

    2. Have you tried creating a (temporary) new User account: does the issue occur there also?
