have anode problem with iPhone 5S and syncing photos. Most photos back up automatically and normally and are available on my other devices, iPad and iMac, within a very short while. There seems to be no reason why some do not back up and I can see no obvious difference between the ones that back up and those that don't.

Backups and syncing photos are two different things.

Keep your photos safely stored and up to date on all your devices - Apple Support
You stated you can view them on other devices, that isn't possible unless you restore other devices from your iPhone backup.

Many thanks for your reply. I am obviously confused about syncing and backup particularly as pictures from my iPhone did at one time appear on my iPad and iMac. My Calendar always has.
Anyway I'll plough through the support articles you have referred to and I'm sure I'll solve it and get it working as I thought or hoped it should.
