iMessage not being received on Android

Hi, I am having an issue in receiving SMS messages sent by a friend from her 5S iPhone to my Android phone (Nexus 6P running Android version 6.0.1). I recently switched from an iPhone 4S to the Android phone. My 4S has been deregistered from iMessage. Before switching to the Android, there was no issue sending iMessages between us. Now, she can receive my SMS texts on the 5S but her responses back to me do not get thru to my phone. So this is what we did to try to resolve the issue:

1. She made sure that SMS and MMS were enabled on the 5S.

2. She deleted me from Contacts on her 5S, deleted her iMessage conversation with to me, and rebooted her 5S.

3. I deleted her from the Contacts on my Android phone, deleted the SMS messages conversation with her, and rebooted my Android phone.

4. She sent me an iMessage to my cell number.

5. I received her text, responded back to her and she received my response.

6. She then reentered my info in Contacts on the 5S and I did the same o the Android phone.

It seemed like the problem was resolved but it wasn’t. I sent her a text yesterday and she received it but again her response back to me did not get thru to my phone. I can successfully text other people on iPhones and receive their responses without an issue but not from this certain individual. Why? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have spotted several little idiosyncrasies like this via several posts with no clear reason as to why it happens.

On My own Mac the Drop down for the "To" spot lists an deregistered iPhone Number that has also been removed from the Address Card it was on in Contacts but it still keep showing up.

When her phone sends is she seeing a Blue bubble item ?

Can she click and Hold and select send as Text ? (this may only appear if the item fails to Send).

Also in Settings > Messages and just below the Send and Receive item has she go the option to Send as SMS set ?

It seems an iPhone will receive SMS no matter what be needs to be set to Send as SMS as an alternative.

Hi,

Messages on the Mac and on the iPhone will automatically send blue bubbled items when sending iMessages and green when sending any non iMessages item.

(the ability to colour your own outgoing bubbles is the thing I miss most from iChat and earlier versions of Messages)

Incoming messages are always grey bubbled item which also does not help tell what source they are from.

That said when the items she sent do not arrive can she tell if they went as SMS (Green) or as iMessages (Blue) ?

I am trying to find out if her iPhone is being consistent.

Thanks Ralph. To answer your question: it was Blue then Green. It now seems to be working. I deleted my iPhone from the device list on the Apple site. She deleted her iMessage chat and I deleted my Messenger chat. She sent an iMessage to my cell number. We exchanged texts over the last couple of days with no issue. Cross our fingers that the issue is permanently resolved.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to me.

Cheers
