Q: Macintosh HD renamed – can't change it back!
Hi. Weird problem. The Macintosh HD on my colleague’s MacBookPro has renamed itself (or someone has accidentally done so) to: ‘+—0++————————————————‘
But the Mac won’t let me change it back to ‘Macintosh HD’; if I try, it comes up with the following error:
‘The name “Macintosh HD” can’t be used. Try using a name with fewer characters, or with no punctuation marks’.
In Disk Utility, not only is the volume not selectable in First Aid or Erase, I notice also that the top item (I think this is called the Logical Volume Group?) has now strangely changed its name to 'Macintosh HD', having previously been something like ‘Apple SSD Media’.
Anyhow, I cannot work out how to change these items back, as I’m unable to do anything with Disk Utility. Also, although the MacBookPro is still working (I can save files and run programs) I can’t ‘see’ the hard disk in things like Startup Disk as according to Disk Utility it’s not mounted.
Screen grab attached. Any ideas? Thanks.
