Q: iPhone 6 (iOS 9.3.2) Erasing Music Without Prompt
I have experienced two instances in which I was listening to music on my iPhone when the music stopped, and upon checking my phone, discovered that all of my music (both iTunes purchases and music sourced elsewhere) were deleted. All files were then loaded back onto my phone after re-transferring them back over from my computer.
The issue isn't related to Apple Music (to my knowledge), but I have seen reports of similar events throughout various Communities and I was curious as to whether or not there was a reliable solution.
The issue isn't major, though it is extremely inconvenient and is definitely a deterrent to exploring large-capacity phones as an alternative to other music players.

The behavior does sound very much like a service hiccup rather than the behavior of hardware. I know you've already marked it off, but go ahead and check under Settings>Music>iCloud Music Library and just check to see if that has been engaged. If so, you might be subscribed to iTunes Match or Apple Music right now and may have forgotten about it. I have been subscribed to iTunes Match this entire time I was subscribed to Apple Music and they both do exactly the same thing I intended to use iTunes Match for. View, change, or cancel your subscriptions - Apple Support if you find this to be the case and you have need to cancel the service. Otherwise, checkout some of the cool things they do and whatever issue you're having with it can be resolved.

If none of the above apply, have you plugged your iPhone into multiple computers loaded with iTunes in the time period that you experienced this disappearance. What may have happened could have been accidental in the use of iTunes on multiple computers with this iPhone. If an attempt to sync media is made from one computer after syncing with another computer, the media content from the previously synced computer is removed in the process.
