Email keeps requiring password.

I am accessing my online POP email account via Apple Mail. I have been randomly getting a Mail Password Required message with the Apple mail logo icon on it. I checked with my online email account (which is working fine) and they say they can’t help and to check with Apple. It is Apple that is giving me the message and my Mail Account is set up properly wth the password. It usually works fine but lately I get the message several times a day.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Les Vogt1

Have you checked if your online account is enabled for POP3 access? For my hotmail account, I had to login online (at hotmail.com) and do the following:

  • Once I logged in, I clicked on the "gear" icon and chose "options".
  • Then, under "Accounts" I clicked on "POP and IMAP". I then under "POP options" I said "yes" to letting devices and apps use POP (apparently the default is to say no).

That's it. After months of frustration, this worked for me.

Good luck!
