SE volume poor on phone calls

When making phone calls, incoming volume is quite low, very hard to hear in noisy backgrounds. Max volume does not help; the sound itself is still quiet.

Other volume is all fine: music, speakerphone function, headphones, etc.—but that's a different speaker, right?

Can't tell if this is a software or a hardware function. But is the speaker above the screen used for anything besides phone calls so we could test it?

Has anyone else run into this, and if so what was the resolution?

Hi there DerForster!

I understand that whenever you're making phone calls on your iPhone SE, the volume is low. Based off of what you've provided us, I think these knowledgebase support articles from Apple should help you.

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't clear on your iPhone - Apple Support

Both articles provide troubleshooting steps which should hopefully assist you with the problem you're having.

I hope this helps you!
