Can I use a Visa Gift Card for Apple Pay ?

Prepaid cards are not supported. I tried.

Apple Pay can be used with supported cards from participating issuers.

Apple publishes a list of participating issuers here:

Apple Pay participating banks - Apple Support

Whether or not any specific card is a supported card is a matter for the issuer to decide and advise. Apple does not publish a list of supported cards.

To find out whether any card is supported, either:

• Check with the issuer (perhaps check their website first), or;
• Try adding the card (if it is not supported, you will not be able to add it).

Some prepaid cards from some issuers are supported.

In the US, for example, these presently include the Chase Liquid® prepaid card and prepaid cards from Wells Fargo:
