rogue keyboard issue??

Something is up with my keyboard. I have tried turning on and off mouse keys with no effects. the seven, h, k, l, w, u, j, and etc. keys are not working. I thought maybe the keyboard hardware was faulty, so I bought a separate usb keyboard only to find the exact same keys do not work at all on the external keyboard. another weird thing, the h key prints as a backspace?? what's up with this? I've tried googling solutions with no results. i have a MacBook pro that runs maverick, I believe. i haven't been able to login because my password requires one of the keys that aren't working, and I saved my recovery key to a file on my computer (lol) because I'm an idiot. sos.
