After reviewing your post, it seems like you are having some issues with a section of your display not responding to your touch. I use my iPhone all the time, so I can understand the concern. I will be happy to go over some things with you.
The orientation lock is only accessible via the Control Center.If the screen doesn‘t rotate on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
That is brought up when you swipe up from the bottom of the iPhone. The orientation lock icon, however, is on the right side. If you are unable to tap on that icon due to the screen not responding to your touch on the right side, check this out:
If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn‘t respond to touch
Beyond that, it would be best to have the iPhone seen for possible service.
