Q: FaceTime Freezes for few seconds

Hello,

I am having an issue with FaceTime, I can make calls just fine, but the video freezes during the call for short time. Typically I have 5-10sec of call with 1-2sec frozen video. Audio works just fine. Also what is interesting that even my video (meaning that little video of myself in the corder) freezes.

system: 2014 MBP 8MB Ram

OS: 10.11.4 (up to date)

network: WIFI over several different networks, all ~ 5MB+ down and 2MB+ up

antivirus: Avira in the past, now Norton (same behavior under both)

I really tested several WIFI networks, did not help.

It almost looks like my MacBookPro cannot keep up decoding the video?? Person on the other side never see any issues. Is there any diagnostics I can run beyond watching the Activity Monitor which btw seems OK

thank you

MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Please remove the Norton/Symantec product(s) by following these instructions. If you have a different version of the product, the procedure may be different. If you tried to remove it by dragging an application to the Trash, reinstall it and finish the job.

Back up all data before making any changes. Never install any "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" product again.

Recommeding to never install antivirus program is very strange, against Apple recommendation and very puzzling especially when you are not providing any hint which could link my issue to antivirus program.

I don't know whether Norton is causing your problem. I do know that it causes many other problems and is completely worthless. The first step is to get rid of it. If you don't want to do that, I have no other suggestions. Good luck.

ttemporarily uninstalling software is one thing, recommending to never install antivirus without having is completely different matter. Plus suggesting antivirus software is worthless is... Well questionable at best

Then I should clarify. All anti-virus software is worthless, not just Norton. It should never be used for any reason.
