iphone 6 will not hold a battery charge. Apple store said I need to clear my diagnostic and usage data.
how do I do this?

The only way that I know is to use iTunes to sync the device with a computer. Syncing will clear diag and usage data. Reset all contents and settings may clear it too but that's an overkill.
