Q: Mid-2011 Mac Mini Video Flicker
I have tried everything to fix this issue to no avail.
Mid-2011 Mac Mini
2.5 GHz Intel Dual Core i5
8 GB RAM (133 MHz DDR3)
Mac OS 10.11.5
AMD Radeon 6630M
HDMI to HDMI hooked to a 64-inch LG HDTV
Mac EFI Driver is 01.00.561
Mac BIOS is MM51.0077.B14
SMC is 1.75f0
The video flickers constantly, making the screen signal tune out and go black for anywhere from a few seconds to a full minute before coming back on again and repeating. It would do it intermittently at first. Now it's all the time. A simple disconnecting of the power on the HDTV would kill the problem and reset it. Now, that doesn't work. Restarting my Mac Mini completely kills the problem -- only to see it happen a few days later.
No, playing with the RAM doesn't work.
No, resetting PRAM doesn't work.
No, resetting SRAM doesn't work.
Booting to Safe Mode is a temporary fix and doesn't apply anyhow.
And, no, EFI update 1.5 doesn't work. 1.6 and 1.7 are not compatible.
It never happens in Boot Camp. Only Mac.
I am really at my wit's end. I've been a Mac user since the Mac friggin' Plus and I've never come across an issue as frustrating as this one.
Please help!
Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), null
