Q: Airdrop from Mac 2011 to iPhone issues

To Airdrop from Mac to iPhone, the Mac must be 2012 or newer model. Yet, that requirement does not exist to Airdrop from Mac to Mac. Why? and is there any way to Airdrop from Mac 2011 to iPhone?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), Model Early 2011

    I would have to look over the system specs on the different Macs/iPhones, but my guess is the 2011 Macs lack the necessary hardware to send files to iPhones.

     

    What kind of things are you trying to send? Perhaps there's a good alternative for you
