Q: Static using Rode external mic

Looking for a solution.

Recently purchased a Rode VideoMic Go with SC7 cable to work with iPhone 6 Plus S and Olloclip Studio Case.

The setup with a Manfrotto monopod is for blogging and interviewing.

The issue is that when recording there is static clearly over the audio; it improves marginally when switching airplane mode on but frustrated that sound is not clear.

Anyone else suffered similar problem and have any suggestions?

Thank you in advance

    Hi there Goffs,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are encountering some unexpected static while recording with your Rode VideoMic Go and your iPhone 6s Plus. I know that having crystal clear audio is super important, and I'll be glad to give you some suggestions.

To isolate this issue, I'd recommend that you test using another connection cable between the microphone and your iPhone. Also, try recording with the microphone and another device (e.g. another phone, computer, etc). Finally, remove the iPhone from the case to see if the audio quality has improved. If the static persists after each test, chances are you'd want to reach out to Rode support to see what resources they can provide.
