Jun 20, 2016 9:00 AM in response to RAHNBHby srbwanderer,Hello RAHNBH,
Thank you for being part of the Apple Community! My understanding is you are needing to update iTunes so that it is compatible with a new iPhone SE.
The first thing I would do is back up everything that is on the computer. Nothing I am going to suggest should cause any data loss, but it is always a good idea to have a backup.
From what you are describing, I would recommend removing iTunes and then installing iTunes again. There are other components to iTunes that also need to be removed. You can find the instructions on how to remove iTunes from a Windows computer here: Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later
I hope your wife enjoys her new iPhone!
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

Jun 20, 2016 9:06 AM in response to RAHNBHby turingtest2,For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. Start with Missing MSI errors.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.
Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with third party software.
Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
