my ipad crashed while apps. now it will not boot up and run. I've hooked it up to iTunes and tried to update it but it says it can't find the device. I've tried different usb cords and my other computer. iTunes downloaded the updates but won't install them. It showed the serial number of the ipad so I don't know why it won't start up

Restart your computer and Reset your device.
Reset: hold down the Home and Power buttons until you see the Apple logo (10-20 seconds).
If this doesn't help, you might need to Restore your iPhone, which you cando over Wi-Fi, after making an iCloud backup.
try to restore your ipad to the existing backup on your computer first (i hope you allowed itunes to make one in the past).
then try to do the software update again. best is to do it through the computer and sync it to your ipad.
