Q: Pages can't save to iCloud Drive!

Trying to save documents in iCloud drive Pages folder, but recently its stuck trying to upload. The file in Finder has a cloud with an exclamation mark inside it.

Pages gives me a warning that "There is not enough space to save this document to iCloud..."

Well the problem is that my icloud space says I have 2.36GB of free space! All my devices say I have 2.32GB of free space.

I even checked in Finder and checked the "info" to the icloud drive and says the size is 1.79 GB (that includes Pages, Garageband, Preview, iMovie, Keynote and Numbers Folder).  My Mail Account Info says my total size is barely 400MB... plus the Junk & Trash are empty.

Also in my Photos app I don't store my pics in icloud... just use photostream. Even my photostream is only 1.07GB.  I should still have 1GB somewhere in the icloud drive, right? Of course, the trash in Photos is also emptied.

Remeber that in my iPhone 6 and Macbook air icloud preferences says i have 2.32GB AVAILABLE... why can't I save to icloud drive?

Lastly, I did see something very interesting in the "iCloud Drive" App in the iPhone. Is that it has -6.31GB available on iCloud....what?! MINUS 6.31GB???

Where???  I have checked every single file in icloud drive and none are over 30MB... I mainly store Pages documents, no videos or photos.  iMovie, Garageband Keynote are really empty!  What GIVES???

Please someone help me!

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10), iPhone 6 64GB iOS 8.0.2

    Hello hananias ,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities!

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing not being able to save Pages documents to iCloud.  I use iCloud myself so that I can have access to certain files no matter where I am, or what computer I am using.

The first thing I would do is backup everything that is on the computer. Nothing I am going to suggest should cause any data loss, but it is always a good idea to have a backup.  Your computer has software on it called Time Machine.  It is fantastic software for backing up your computer.  Information on how to use Time Machine is available here: Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.

The next step I would perform would be to sign out of the iCloud Drive and then sign back in.  This will force the server to take a new look at what is happening.  To sign out of the iCloud Drive:

    1. Click on the Apple Logo in the upper left corner
    2. Click on System Preferences
    3. Click on iCloud
    4. Uncheck iCloud Drive

You will receive a message telling you that "all documents stored in iCloud will be deleted from this Mac".  This is ok.  They will be there when you sign back in, plus you have them on your backup.  Go ahead and check iCloud Drive again to reactivate it. Once it's set back up, save a Pages document to the iCloud > Pages folder.

Enjoy your MacBook Air!  Have a great day!

I already tried that... nothing changed.

I reinstalled my macbook air, resigned in to all my iCloud drive devices... nothing changes.

Now that I deleted all the folders in the iCloud drive, I can't put them back in cause of lack of storage!!!

This is crazy! How come before I deleted all my folders and documents they were all in my devices (I just couldn't make any NEW documents)...

but after I backed them up and delete them, now I can't put anything back in!!!

I really need apple's help on this one... I have an iCloud Drive that is FULL but really is empty!!!

In my preferences status shows 2.3GB available, I'm only using about 167MB of photos, 648MB Mail and 1.8GB of Documents... that is it!

But what is crazy is that I don't have any documents in the iCloud Drive what so ever!!!

    Hi hanania,

Since those steps did not solve the issue, my next suggestion would be to contact Apple Support.  You can contact them several different ways by starting here: Contact Apple Support.

    Cheers!

I did contact them, and they told me to reinstall my Macbook and restore everything using Time Machine and Signing in to iCloud... that didn't help.

This is really bugging me now, my iCloud drive is empty but it is "-4.5GB on iCloud"??? I'll post a screen shot of it.

Has anyone else had this problem? IMG_1501.PNG

Nothing I have tried is working... Now we are getting to the point where this is getting frustrating.

I have talked with Apple representatives for 3 days and nothing. Waited for 2 weeks with no results!

Not even a hint as to what the problem is.

Doesn't make anything sense, how all of the sudden my account is corrupted for some reason.

So today I got an email from support asking me to install a Profile Log, but it didn't work.

It failed cause it was expired... I'm really down to the last straw here...

    Apple please get it together!

My work is affected by this FYI.

iCloud Drive is not all that uses your iCloud Storage. Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

For you to now have -6 GB would likely mean that you had previously been signed up for some annual or monthly iCloud Storage plan that exceeded 5 GB. Has your credit card information been updated in your iTunes Account settings?

Hi there - I have just started experiencing this problem.

Did you manage to find a solution ? I have enough storage space on my iCloud drive- but pages can't seem to save a 639kb file because it claims there is no space available. Yet iCloud shows 2.7GB available space.

    Thanks.

PS: I disabled iCloud drive on my mac, and re-enabled it. It downloads all the documents stored in iCloud, but I can't add new ones.

    NOPE! Haven't solve anything!

Actually Apple "technicians" are supposed to be on the case. I send them a system diagnostic report, but I haven't heard from them yet.

I resigned in and out, reinstall all my OS X & iOS devices (not fun to spend a weekend sorting out years of data)... and my biggest mistake was to erase everything in the iCloud Drive (of course I have back ups), but I was trying to make room for new files. Of course, I couldn't make new storage space. Well, technically I did cause I do have 4.6GB of storage, but I can't add or even put back my backed up files!!!

So now I have a completely EMPTY iCloud Drive (LITERALLY EMPTY = 4.69GB of iCloud Storage are available!) but every time I open Pages, Numbers or even iCloud Drive I get a pop up message saying my iCloud Storage is full.

They also said they will be monitoring this conversation. So hopefully they can see that this is not the only case.

People's data, work are on the line. And frankly their hopes and trust in cloud services are as well.

I always back up data, but if the cloud is not functioning as advertised to "JUST WORKS" then we are forced to look at the alternatives and competition.

For example, I never had any problems what so ever with Google Drive.

If I ever need more Cloud storage, my confidence in apple has just disappeared. I thought I could trust them, but it is obvious we can't trust any company with important sensitive data.  Specially someone new to the cloud game... Looking at you Apple!

My WORK! My Volunteer Service (Yes, I work for free for the good of others) and my Personal Life (calendar, notes, reminders) all are affected by this problem!

My wife is even asking what is apple going to do about this? Meaning will there be any compensation for the down time?

Personally I just want my iCloud back!

Thanks. I have not found a solution either. The documents will still not save to iCloud. Dropping a document in my iCloud folder in finder, just keeps the sync progress bar stuck at about 2%. It doesn't upload the document to iCloud.

Apple Tech - please attend to this issue!!!!

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for improvement. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

Yep, I did it already... actually a few times with different wording to try to catch their attention.

    And I did.

    But... no fix yet

It's really been too long, this is in the ridiculous level now.

Apple deleted my original post right away and sent me an email informing me of the removal because they thought I was "ranting them out".

Did I also say that even my contacts are no longer synchronizing to my other OS X and iOS devices because contacts are stored in iCloud and when I make changes to existing or add new contact on one device, it can't write it to iCloud and thus none of my other devices receive the change.  I'm going to assume that the same applies to Calendar events even though I have not checked this on the calendar side.

Wow, I'm sad but a little glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Hasn't been fixed yet. But I actually my Calendar, Contacts and Notes apps are syncing between devices, but of course the Pages and office apps are not syncing.

My problem seems to be specifically with iCloud Drive, and not my iCloud account.

Lets keep in touch with all our progress and what apple is doing to help us.

By the way apple contacted me with nothing but the same o'talk that "Engineering are still looking into the issue" and the famous if you need to contact me call support.

I thought I was already talking to support?!  You know my problem, you got my system diagnostic report and you are in Apple, so go look in the servers or where you store our data...but what else do you need to troubleshoot this problem?

Again as a work around, I just created a new icloud account and linked them as family account (to share iOS apps purchases) and also I copied ALL my data from iCloud (iCloud Drive Documents, Cal, Contacts, Mail, Notes, Reminders... everything!) copied over to the new account.  So my Macbook and iPhone have 2 iCloud accounts active, of course only 1 can be the administrative account (that's the broken one), but I use the newer account for all my iCloud drive, Cal, etc.

Let me know if you find something else
