Q: Help me please!!!

So a Couple of weeks ago, my I pod touch (5th Gen) went flat and I didn't think anything of it, but when I went home to put it on the charger it wouldn't turn on at all!! The battery charging thing came up to say it was charging, the apple logo came up, it was like it was turning on but after 10-20 seconds the screen will go black. Its been on this continuous loop for the past few weeks ad their hasn't been an article saying anything similar to my problem. I have tried everything I could, I bought a new charging cable, I've tried charging it everywhere possible. I just wanted to get a second opinion, or reach out just to see if anyone else has had the same problem, or is going though the same problem and could possibly help me with this problem! I don't want to waste my money taking it to a shop j to get it checked out when i could attempt to fix it myself or just buy a new one in general.
