Q: Facetime Problem

A friend in Texas sent me an IPhone 6 when I lived in California.  We had no problem with Facetime there.   I now live in Mesquite, Nevada and am unable to use Facetime with my friend.  I have wi-fi set up and AT&T is the phone service provider.  I've tried to reboot the phone but still not working. It's driving me nuts. My friend can Facetime family in Canada, but no longer with me.   Does anyone have any suggestions?

Facetime needs a strong connection. Do you have that in Mesquite?

Apparently not,  I was hoping someone might have another solution.  On a good day I may get 3 dots on the signal.  Of course if I drive 1 hr south to Las Vegas, the problem is solved  .  My friend is frustrated, that I moved to a "podunk" area.  .  I'm also 30 min south of St. George, UT. which may also be a good area, but the mountains may be hampering the signal issue.  Since the account is in my friends name, I may try to get him to call AT&T and *****.

    Thanks for your input elcpu.

I have driven through Mesquite many times on my way to Zion National Park. St. George would definitely have a good signal. What happens if you try with Wi-Fi?

Haven't tried facetime for several months now.  I just moved to Mesquite in January and had the cable/internet and wi-fi hooked up then.  I have it set up on the phone but I just now noticed when I go to settings and bring up the wi-fi it has a padlock next to the signal icon that I don't recall seeing before.  There's a checkmark next on the left showing I'm connected to my home wi-fi.  I have another wi-fi connection for when I'm up at the Rec. Ctr. here in the Sun City development and that has a padlock also.  What does that mean, do you know?

It means that you are on a secure network that requires a password to connect.
