Q: Help please with chicken and egg situation in upgrading browser

Hi!

I would like to upgrade the browser of my desktop but am running into trouble. I also cannot access my mail. My Mac is bought in the Netherlands but I have since moved to Serbia. When trying to install upgrade I keep getting stuck. The problem seems to be that I reset my my apple ID recently and my details are being checked. My finances (credit card etc) are registered in NL while my phone etc. is registered in Serbia. I can't figure out how to get this in sync. Any help advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hello globetrottingtobelgrade,

Thank you for being part of the Apple Community!

It is my understanding you are having an issue with the App Store that is preventing you from upgrading your computer.  I know how important it is to have the latest versions of all software installed.

Most likely the App Store has changed to the country of your new location.

When you change your iTunes Store country:

    • Update your billing address to one in your new country. When you change your billing address, the primary address for your Apple ID and your other Apple services, such as the App Store and iCloud, automatically updates.
    • You might need to update your payment method. For example, only German credit cards can be used to buy content from the German iTunes Store and App Store.
    • You won't see the items that you purchased from the previous country’s store in your Purchased section.
    • You won’t see the items from your iCloud Music Library that you matched, uploaded, or added from the previous country’s store.

You can find more information about changing countries here: Change your iTunes Store country or region

    Cheers!
