I understand that you're unable to sync your iPhone in the traditional way since signing up for Apple Music. I can understand the importance of being able to sync, and I'm happy to go over some information with you. You may have enabled iCloud Music Library, and if that's the case, the support article below should shed some light on this. If that's not the case and you're seeing a specific error message, please describe the error in detail.
Sync Apple Music across your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and computer
Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities.
Cheers!

Jun 22, 2016 1:11 PM in response to Jeff_W.by JohnnyTheFox,Let me get this straight, I can't send music to my iPod anymore if I'm connected to Apple Music, I have to upload it to iCloud first and then download it to my iPod? Now I can see some tracks I wanted in my iPod, but only a handful of them will download, the rest have a message saying "Item not available". Can I manually upload songs to iCloud, or if they don't go there then I'm out of luck?

It sounds like you have enabled iCloud Music Library on all of your devices as described in the support article, but are getting an error message when trying to play or download them.
Take a look at this article and make sure that your songs meet all of the criteria for uploading to Apple Music:Add music from your own collection to your Apple Music library
