Q: iPhoto timeout message stating there's no network connection
I have A Macbook Air2,1, running iPhoto '09 Version 8.1.2.
I have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.8), in the hope that this would solve my iPhoto problem. It hasn't. I am loathed to jump again to El Capitain as I am not convinced I need it - I do not have a new macbook, I do not run apps and have no issues with speed or wifi connection.
I am able to compile my photobook but when I click the "Buy Book" button the barberpole tells me is connecting before I get a message that a connection could not be made and to try later. I have tried repeated and can confirm my WIFI connection is fine. I have tried the solutions on the other posts for this error message but these have not worked.
I have converted the book to a PDF so how can I get this to Apple to print? if I cannot use IPhoto?
I am loathed to upgrade my IPhoto as the upgrade to the latest ITunes has meant I can no longer transfer music to my IPhone 6.
Any advice from other users?

Apple has stopped the support for iPhoto books completely. Since the end of March you can no longer buy books from iPhoto or Aperture, only from the Photos for Mac application.
To get your iPhoto book printed save the book to PDF and use another printing service, for example Presto Photo.
Have you been using the Places feature in iPhoto? Then you are victim of the missing support for the Places. Apple did not renew the contract with Google for the access to Google's location servers. And now all older iphoto versions are having problems, when they are trying to access Google's servers.

I don't know, if you can use the same fix in your iPhoto version.
Only the newer iPhoto versions are working well right now. iPhoto 9.5.1 and newer do no longer use Google's servers but Apple's own servers.
