Q: iPhoto timeout message stating there's no network connection

I have A Macbook Air2,1, running iPhoto '09 Version 8.1.2.

I have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.8), in the hope that this would solve my iPhoto problem.  It hasn't.  I am loathed to jump again to El Capitain as I am not convinced I need it - I do not have a new macbook, I do not run apps and have no issues with speed or wifi connection.

I am able to compile my photobook but when I click the "Buy Book" button the barberpole tells me is connecting before  I get  a message that a connection could not be made and to try later.  I have tried repeated and can confirm my WIFI connection is fine.  I have tried the solutions on the other posts for this error message but these have not worked.

I have converted the book to a PDF so how can I get this to Apple to print? if I cannot use IPhoto?

I am loathed to upgrade my IPhoto as the upgrade to the latest ITunes has meant I can no longer transfer music to my IPhone 6.

Any advice from other users?

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.6.8), iPhoto '09 Version 8.1.2.
