flight track does not work for certain airlines

i try this with a few airlines like UA, British Airways, Cathay Pacific...

it seems most airlines work except for Cathay Pacific, i have tried using CX 873, CX #873 and Cathay Pacific 873, but none works

i did try your suggestion 'Cathay Pacific Airways #873', but it does not work either even though your screen shot seem to work.

this is very odd indeed. i use both entire airlines name and airlines code (see below) and they all work.

British Airways #403

UA #322

AA #2433

so i do not why it just does not work for cathay pacific (i did try both CX 873 and Cathay Pacific Airways #873), but no luck.

see screen shot, every airlines work except cathay pacific

FWIW, what I do is press return at the end of the line then hover the cursor over the text and I get the drop down menu. If I close Notes then reopen, I have to click at the end of the line, hit return, then hover over the line.

If you look at FlightAware, they use CPA for flight tracking, but the IATA code is indeed CX as you tried.

My guess is that you would have to determine what Apple is using to track the flights and possibly see if they use a different code like FlightAware uses.

While it is possible to enter something different, the idea behind data detectors is that you can lookup the information as printed in an email or message without going to another source. You might try providing Feedback to Apple on that as you would hope it would correctly identify all flights.

I'm not sure why you keep going on about this. That's all great that you can open a Note and type in that info and get results. Now if we can only get the airlines to spell out the entire name so that it works when you get it in an email instead of using the industry standard abbreviations.

Or, Apple can fix the data detectors so they can work as they should.

I'm going on about this because you refuse to admit you were wrong. Of course I didn't realize your opinion of how a feature should work is the final word. I assume Apple chose the method they did because it's easier for most people to remember the name of the airline rather than the IATA codes. But since you feel Apple is doing the wrong thing, perhaps you should send them feedback.
