Q: itunes encrypted password issues

I upgraded to a new iphone SE , I am trying to download my apps and contacts from my previous iphone 4s.
Somehow my itunes backup to my computer had the encrypted box for the iphone 4s, I do not know how to override this function without losing my contacts, etc on my old phone.  Without this password, in which I have tried everything and none of my passwords seem to work.  The password is required while I am backing up my new iphone SE and I do not know how to get rid of it.

PLEASE HELP ASAP AS I NEED TO SETUP MY NEW PHONE......

Thank you,
Lyneixe

Do you still have the 4s ? And you are trying to restore that backup onto the SE or take a backup of the SE ('The password is required while I am backing up my new iphone SE') ?

Without the password for that backup you won't be able to restore to it  : About encrypted backups in iTunes - Apple Support

If you can’t remember the password for my encrypted backup

You can't use an encrypted backup if you don't have the password.

When you try to use a backup, you might see a message saying "The password you entered to unlock your backup was incorrect." This message means that the iTunes encryption option was turned on in the past by:

    • Yourself
    • Someone who set up your device or transferred your data to a new device
    • An installed profile (for business or education devices). If you're using an installed profile, contact your system administrator.

If you don't have your password:

    • If someone else set up your device, check with them for the password.
    • Try using an iCloud backup instead. If you don't have an iCloud backup, you can make one.
    • If it's still relevant, try using an older iTunes backup.

    ...

You can't use an encrypted backup if you don't have the password. If you forgot your password, the only way to turn off backup encryption on your device is to erase your device and set up as new. Erasing removes all data from your device. If you don't want to erase your device, restore from an iCloud backup instead.

I cannot vouch for this myself as I have not done it however it appears feasible and perhaps worth trying if you got the time and incentive.

To bypass the issue of encrypted backups always being encrypted:

Backup the 4s to iCloud. Then erase the phone and set up as new. Then backup to iTunes as an unencrypted backup. Then restore the from the iCloud backup. Then backup to iTunes again. Finally restore that backup to the new SE. It should be unencrypted.
