Q: MacBook shuts down the entire wifi network even after disconnecting from wifi.

MacBook shuts down the entire wifi network even after disconnecting from wifi. In March 2016, my wifi networked stopped workqing every time I started my MacBook and continues to do so even after disconnecting from the internet. Also, my trackpad acts funny and any devices connected to my MacBook act erratically. I've searched the Internet for answers but nothing seems to work. I have a 2010 MacBook.

Perhaps if you share what you've already done we can avoid wasting everyone's time offering redundant advice.

I deleted system level preference files and creating a new network location. Created a New Wi-Fi Network Location with Custom DNS.

Rebooted the Mac in the Safe Mode, then reboot again

Rebooted the Wi-Fi router the Mac connects to

    Updated the Wi-Fi router firmware

Thanks for that info. Try connecting your Macbook with an ethernet cable to see if the problem persists? Try creating a new test user to see if the problem is related to just your iser account.

Thanks Mike. I tried both of your suggestions but they did not work. The problem is that as soon as I turn my laptop on, usually the Internet shuts down immediately. Although, I've noticed that when I turn on the macbook several times in a day the Internet will work after a few tries, but only for a few minutes.

Would you run and post an EtreCheck report? Might be better than playing 20 questions http://etrecheck.com/

I'm not sure if any of this is contributing to your problem but you have three HUGE issues on that Macbook.

    1. Clean My Mac is malware, sometimes known as BrickMyMac, it needs to be properly uninstalled http://macpaw.com/support/cleanmymac/knowledgebase/how-to-uninstall-cleanmymac-3

    2. It looks like you had MacKeeper, even worse malware, installed at one time but may not have properly uninstalled it as there are still pieces of it on your system. Unfortunately you may need to reinstall that garbage in order to properly uninstall it http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/

    3. While El Capitan will run in only 2Gb of ram it won't run well and there will be no ram left for any application causing your Macbook to use your hard disk as app memory. That will slow everything to a crawl and will shorten the life of your hard drive dramatically. Since I also see that you don't have Time Machine configured, unless you have a different back up strategy, you could be setting yourself up for a complete data loss. Your late 2009 ( not 2010) Macbook can be upgraded to 8Gb of ram fairly cheaply and you should consider doing that. Only use quality ram from OWC https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/8566DDR3S8GP/
