Q: News app won't change region

My wife recently moved country, and changed iTunes Store as a result. She's coming from from Ireland (a country which doesn't have the News app) to the UK (which does have the News app). When we changed country by changing the billing address, the News app appeared but it's the US News app, which a heavy focus on US stuff and no access to some UK stuff like the BBC, etc.

Has anyone been able to resolve this? Clearing the News app's data from iCloud using the iCloud preferences does nothing to force it to change to UK, and all the localisation options are set to UK.

    Hello Zcott,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

My understanding is your wife is wanting to see news from the UK in the Apple News App.  I can certainly understand wanting to see the news that is most important to her!

If she will be staying in the UK, I would suggest changing the setting on the iPhone's Language & Region to the UK.  You can find instructions on how to do this here:  Change the language on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

She can also select Favorites to be sure the sources she likes are available.

    Favorites

The channels and topics you select when you first open News appear in Favorites. Favorites also includes channels and topics you add later.

The Favorites screen, showing several channels and topics. An Edit button appears at the top-right. A callout points to the Edit button and reads, “Tap, then delete unwanted favorites.” Another callout points at a topic called “Photography” and reads, “Tap to view the contents of a favorite channel or topic”

Browse a channel’s stories. Tap a channel or publication to see the most recent published stories. Some publishers also let you browse sections, such as political stories or stories about food. On iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, press to preview a list of stories.

Edit your favorites. Tap Edit, then tap the delete button to delete a channel or topic that you no longer wish to follow. On iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, press, swipe up, then tap Remove from Favorites.

There is more information about the New app available here:  Apple News

    Cheers!
