Water on a macbook pro

I spilled some water on my macbook pro a week ago. I had immediately turned it off, wiped it down, turned it upside down. I left it upside down on a milk crate with a light fan underneath for three days and then left it upside down, turned off for another 4 days (7 totally drying days) . I just now turned on the laptop and everything seems to be working fine. Am I in the clear or should I have them check the water damage indicator at the genius bar?

Sometime water damage takes a wile to manifest itself. This is usually due to corrosion of contacts and other things. I do not know what the Genius can do. The water sensor can provide useful information abut future problems

This is the Mac Pro desktop forum. I requested your post be moved to the MacBook Pro laptop forum.

Under the keyboard there's a cover that's there mainly as a part of the backlight system for the keyboard, but in many cases I've seen it doing a good job at protecting the motherboard from liquid damage. By reacting quickly and letting it dry for days I think you did a good job saving your Macbook. However, there's still a chance that that water could have gotten to the battery and start a chemical reaction. If that happens you'll notice the battery life shortening drastically or the trackpad starting to rise up. But if you don't notice anything the next few weeks I think you should be safe.

But if you're worried, you may take it to an Apple store and ask then to open it and inspect for water damage. I'm not sure how much they take for that, you may want to ask before you let them do it.
