Q: Loading sound files into Mainstage 3 sampler

Is it posible to load files into the EXS24 sampler without Logic Pro? I don't own it (logic) but I can't figure out how to get the sound files to play on the sampler. I'll create new zones and load an existing file, however is won't play. Something I've observed is that I should be able to drag and drop a file in to the editor, but it doesn't allow me to do that. Do I just need to get Logic? Or is there a way to load files in that I don't know about?

It seems, like you did it right. To make sure, the basic functionality is working, please try this:

Create a channel strip with an EXS.

Press the edit button in the EXS UI to open the instrument editor.

The editor opens with an empty sampler instrument.

Drag an audio file into the editor.

Now press a key to play back the audio file.

Can you confirm, that this does work?

Thanks. I realized I was using the wrong type of file; needed to convert them to AIFF files via a conversion software.

May I ask, what kind of files you had before?

Well I was trying to convert .m4a files into .wavs, but I wasn't doing it correctly. I looked up a video on the web, and saw the guy was using AIFFs, and decided to use a online source to convert my files. I guess to answer your question, in reality I was using .m4as that the computer wasn't recognizing.
